Speech therapy is the assessment and treatment of communication problems and speech disorders. It is performed by Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), often called or referred to as speech therapists work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children.

Speech therapists can help children with various speech disorders as well as language disorders like dyslexia and dyspraxia. We provide speech and language therapy for articulation difficulties, fluency issues, repressive, expressive, pragmatic, vocal difficulties, and oral feeding difficulties. Effective speech or language therapy relies on the involvement of parents. Children who benefit most and achieve long-lasting results are those who have their parents/guardians involved. Speech therapists use a variety of strategies to treat the following disorders:

  • Articulation Disorders

  • Fluency Disorders
  • Resonance Disorders

  • Receptive Disorders

  • Expressive Disorders

  • Cognitive/Communication Disorders

  • Aphasia
  • Dysarthria

Small Steps PPEC aims to make kids feel more confident when speaking to others by teaching them to speak clearly. We offer speech therapy that benefits kids on both a social and emotional level.
